I can not even imagine what it is like to be homeless, but I pray that it won't happen to me.
Recently on twitter I began to follow someone whom is homeless. He struggles daily and tweets about it. Yesterday he tweeted that it was one of the worst days of his homelessness. It was raining, he had no where to go to get out of the rain except the library he still had a couple of hours to go before he could get into the library. I only could look in horror and wonder why? Why would God let this happen? Well as I pondered on that question God did not do this we did this.
Let me explain, God loves us and we are all put here for a purpose and I hate to say it but our purpose in life is not to accumulate so much that you lose sight of what is really important fellow human beings who are suffering. We are not to judge them and say it is their own fault, many times it is the fault of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, people become homeless for all reasons and if you think it could never happen to you guess again lots who are never thought it would and they are so no one is exempt.
About a month ago this person wanted help to get something I felt moved and donated for his cause, when I shared this with others they thought I was crazy, I helped someone who needed it with a pure heart expecting nothing in return, my friends basically said, you helped a perfect stranger, you know he will probably use the money you gave him for drugs. I like these people, however if that is the truth the money given was given with faith and no questions asked.
As a society we have a responsibility and a moral obligation to take care of those that can not take care of themselves. We have an obligation to striving to make sure all have access to the basic needs such as food, water and a place to lay our heads at the end of a day when people don't have this, people tend to become feeling unwanted and unloved. We have a generation of children who are growing up with values that are not real. They value clothing, toys, and material things as they would die without them they don't value life either theirs or those around them. I see this in how they behave and interact with others how they speak to others and how they treat others.
In this country now so many are suffering and struggling today. Not all children have been raised to think of only themselves and not others I know plenty that have not but we still have many now that are. I was raised to believe that when you see someone who is struggling or needing something and you can see that there is a need that if you are able you should help and if you help and you do it with a pure heart you will have your reward even if the person deceived you about their need. The question should be treat others as you want to be treated and when you are the blessings will come they really do and for that reason I feel very blessed that all my struggles in life were a valuable lesson and paying it forward is what I do.
